This home was probably built before 1817 although the tax records state 1817. The unusual shape of the roofline seems to indicate that it is a wing from the Robert Toombs house (216 E Robert Toombs Ave.). Legend says the north wing of the home was purchased and rolled across the field to its present location. No concrete evidence of this exists. It is generally agreed that this appears to be the case.
